Modernisation
The modernisation, maintenance and support of existing systems are part of the service portfolio offered by Gruppo Millepiani. Our modernisation operations have become particularly significant in light of the Scajola Directive concerning the enhancement of the safety of existing lift systems.
Italian Decree No. 189 of 23 July 2009, published in the Italian Parliamentary Gazette on 17 August 2009, concerns the Enhancement of the safety of lift systems, in implementation of EU Directive 95/16/CE. Given the importance of upgrading all lift systems to current standards and in view of the age of a large number of lifts in Italy, the Decree prescribes the deployment of upgrading operations geared towards the gradual improvement of the level of safety of the lifts permanently installed and used in buildings and constructions dating from prior to 30 April 1999.
The law, which is presented in its entirety here (in Italian), requires that the following operations be carried out:
- » Analysis and evaluation of the risks posed by the lifts in question
- » Upgrading operations
- » Checks on the implementation of prescribed operations.
